Mason Holgate has now not featured for a single minute in any of Everton’s last 11 matches in all competitions. He has not even been selected in the match day squad for the last seven league fixtures.
At the start of the season, the 22-year-old was in favour with Marco Silva, and started the Toffees’ first five Premier League matches. Since then, however, the England under-21 international has slipped down the pecking order at Goodison Park.

With the current good form of Kurt Zouma and Yerry Mina, it is unlikely that Holgate will find himself back in the first-team picture any time soon. What’s more, at this stage in his career, the young defender needs to be playing week in, week out.
If he won’t be afforded the regular game time he needs on Merseyside, then he must move elsewhere. Given that he is clearly currently surplus to requirement at Goodison, a move away would probably be a smart move.
Toffees fans are divided upon Holgate’s future. Of those who took part in our poll, only 54% believe him to still have a future at the club under Silva. See the full results below.
