Despite seeing out a large portion of the campaign in confident and assured style at the Emirates this season, Arsenal have seemingly blown their title hopes once again in recent weeks – and whilst the situation remains far more complex than some passionate Gunners fans would seemingly make out, many have subsequently called for Arsene Wenger’s head in the run up to next season.
Fickle criticism and intense speculation are two stubborn notions the long-term Arsenal boss has had to put up with for years truth be told, yet as many among the Emirates faithful seem to be growing increasingly concerned with the current managerial set-up at their club, perhaps it really is only a matter of time before Wenger is told to pack his bags and leave North London for good.
So, as Atletico Madrid’s Diego Simeone has reportedly been singled out as a major candidate to potentially replace Arsene Wenger over the coming summer months, must Arsenal simply go all out in trying to land the fiery Argentine tactician, or should the Emirates hierarchy ultimately chance upon another course of action?

Although the current main man down in the Gunners dug-out clearly deserves to be recognised for all the obvious positives he has given Arsenal over the past decade or so, nothing seemingly lasts forever in the world of modern day top-flight management.
All good things ultimately have to come to an end of course, and whilst some sections of the Emirates supporters will likely remain loyal to Arsene Wenger right until the very end, the Gunners arguably risk falling behind the rest of their Premier League opposition if they continuously fail to adapt with the times.
And although Arsenal probably won’t be the only Premier League side looking to acquire the services of Atletico Madrid’s current head-coach, Diego Simeone would certainly represent something close to the ‘next best thing’ for the Gunners should Wenger eventually depart the Emirates at the end of the season.
The 45-year-old Argentine boss has failed to link himself with an illustrious move away from his current employers throughout the course of the 2015/16 campaign – but as money seemingly does the talking above all else these days – maybe Arsenal could begin to tempt Simeone with all the relevant wealth and riches the English Premier League has to offer in abundance.
Whilst the current footballing philosophies successfully developed by Arsene Wenger at the Emirates may not fit perfectly with the South American manager on initial appearances alone, the notorious sense of grit and determination that usually comes part and parcel of the Diego Simeone approach would surely benefit Arsenal in the long run truth be told.
The Gunners have arguably been calling out for someone to install some real tenacity and physicality within their first team squad for several consecutive seasons now – so if Simeone is allowed to marry his no-nonsense style with the attractive and often entertaining tactics Arsenal just love to fall back on – perhaps a promising match made in heaven could potentially await the North Londoners with Diego Simeone on board next term.
Arsenal will need to find an adequate replacement for Arsene Wenger sooner rather than later after all, and as the current boss down at the Emirates certainly isn’t getting any younger, it seems that day is soon approaching for all the loyal supporters who have routinely stuck by the French tactician throughout the years.
The Gunners should therefore do everything within their power to land the current Atletico Madrid boss in the not too distant future – for if Chelsea ultimately win the race for his signature this summer, who knows what will be left for Arsenal just a few years down the line.
